annual visit to AVONDALE AN ENJOYABLE EVENING Last week the executive and members of the Auckland Friendly Societies’ Indoor Bowling Association paid the annual visit to their brethren of the Avondale Oddfellows Lodges. For this occasion the members of the Rebecca Lodge joined forces with the local brethren and right royally did they entertain their visitors. In the absence of the president. Bro. Blomley, the secretary, Bro. J. Johnston, welcomed the visitors. Bro. Harris, on behalf of his executive and the Auckland members, thanked the Avondale brethren tor the privilege of renewing old friendships. which enabled them also to show their appreciation of the fine sporting spirit always shown by their Avondale friends. As the visitors outnumbered the local placets, some of the teams were mixed, and after a most enjoyable evening’s play it was found that each side had scored 122 points. The women’s shield tourney will be commenced on Saturday, September 6. at 2 p.m. sharp. Entries close on TiMflday, September 2. Next week’s tourney will be held on Tuesday instead of Monday. OUTDOOR EVENING
A special evening has been arranged fora return visit of the outdoor players of the Dominion Road Bowling Club. The date fixed is Wednesday, September 10, at 7.30 p.m. As only eight rinks can be accommodated the indoor players will be selected from those who send their names in to the secretary, Mrs. L. Boles. 40 Vermont Street, Ponsonby, before September 3.
