HIS OLD REGIMENT
DUKE OF NORTHUMBERLAND ATTENDED BY GUARDS BURIED IN ABBEY Reed. 11.20 a.m. LONDON, NVed. The remains of the Duke of Northumberland were buried today in Westminster Abbey. Tall bare-headed Grenadier Guardsmen bore the coffin through the great west door to the altar. Grenadier Guardsmen also beat a long muffled tattoo on their drums to mark the passing of a Duke who had been an officer of their regiment.
The remains were interred in the Percy vault in the chapel of Saint Nicholas.
King George and other members of the Royal Family were represented, and the congregation included members of the oldest families in the land.
