MISS OLIVE KAY DOES GOOD ROUND CLOSE BEHIND LEADER Reed. Noon. SYDNEY, Today. The first of the two qualifying rounds were played today. The New Zealander, Miss Olive Kay, made ail impressive appearance with a round of S 3, which included an eight at the simple fifth hole, where she pulled her drive among some trees. She had to play left-handed in an endeavour to recover, and wasted three strokes. She took six at the next hole, and another six at the seventh.

Miss Leslie Bailey, of Victoria, led at the end of the round with SO. Miss Kay followed with S 3, and then came Miss Susie Tolhurst, 84; Mrs. Russell and Miss Wray, 86; and Miss Rathbone (New Zealand), 89.
