PERSONAL.—Mr. A. T. Adam has rejoined the Maheno as chief officer after holiday, and Mr. J. Ritchie is proceeding to Wellington for instructions.
Mr. J. S. Beaton is joining the Kahika as chief officer, relieving Mr. W. H. C. Millward for holidays.
Mr. D. R. McPhail is now third officer of the Kawatiri.
Mr. E. J. Wade, third engineer, R.M.M.S. Aorangi, is on holiday leave, his place being taken by Mr. A. Mclntyre, and Mr. A. R. Faulds joining as fourth engineer.
Mr. M. Campbell has joined the Opihi ns chief engineer, relieving Mr. J. Stevenson for holiday leave.
Mr. A. G. Weld and Mr. R. D. Paul have joined the Waiotapu as third and fourth engineers respectively, relieving Mr. C. V. Holder and Mr. A. Alexander for holidays.
CARGO FROM NEW YORK.—The C. and D. Line steamer Port Brisbane was scheduled to leave New York yesterday with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin.
ULIMAROA AT SYDNEY.—The Hud-dart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa reached Sydney from Auckland at 5.30 a.m. j-ts-terday. The vessel is to sail on Friday and she is due at Wellington next Tuesday.
PASSENGERS ON COMORIN.—The following passengers for New Zealand are travelling by the P. and O. liner Comorin, which is due at Sydney from London on September 4:—For Auckland: .Mrs. Houchen, Mr. W. A. Horne, Misses F. Bradley and E. F. Sharp. Lyttelton: Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Bowie, Dunedin. Miss G. Mackintosh.
ARGYLLSHIRE SAILS 5 P.M.—Now at Queen’s Wharf completing her Homeward cargo, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Argyllshire is to be dispatched at. five o’clock this evening for London. Avonmouth, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal.
, THE TOFUA.—The Union Company’s Island steamer Tofua arrived at Apia at two o’clock on Monday afternoon, and was to sail at 3 p.m. yesterday for Pago Pago, Suva and Auckland. At Pago Pago she will embark the Island passengers and crew of the foundered steamer Tahiti. The Tofua is scheduled to reach Auckland next Wednesday morning.
THE NARBADA.—The Union Company's Indian trader Narbada passed Thursday Island last Friday afternoon and reports that she expects to reach Auckland next Monday morning. The vessel has a cargo of Eastern produce from Calcutta, Penang, Singapore and Samarang for discharge at Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff.
ARMADALE ARRIVES TOMORROW. —A further radio message received by the New Zealand Shipping Company from the A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer Armadale states that she expects to arrive in the stream here from New York via Suva at three o’clock tomorrow after- . The vessel will berth at Prince’s Wharf to put out the local consignment of her cargo of general merchandise, and later sails for "Wellington, Lyttelton, J ima.ru, Dunedin and Sydney to complete discharge. SOMERSET DUE FRlDAY.—According to her wireless advice the Federal steamer Somereet is due in port at 6 a.m. on Friday from Liverpool with a cargo of general merchandise from West Coast United Kingdom ports. The vessel is to berth at Queen’s Wharf to unload the local portion of her cargo to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. To complete discharge she sai !,f°V Wellington, Dunedin and Hiuft. She will then commence loading for London at Bluff about September 25. She will subsequently load at Lyttelton. Wellington, Gisborne, Tokomaru Bay and Auckland. THE lONIC.—The White Star liner lonic, which arrived from London and Southampton yesterday morning, sailed from London on July 17 and cleared Southampton the following day. She reached Colon on August 2 and cleared Balboa the next day. A call was made at Pitcairn Island on August 15. The lonic met with fresh westerly winds and rough head seas on the trip across the Atlantic, __ but she had generally fair weather in the Pacific until after leaving Pitcairn Island, when she encountered a high south-west swell. This continued lor four days and then gradually moderated as the vessel approached New Zealand.
The lonic is to sail for Wellington on Saturday morning to complete discharge of her cargo of general merchandise. She is then to commence her homeward loading at Timaru about September G. She will subsequently load at Lvttelton, New Plymouth, Wanganui and Wellington. The vessel is due at Wellington on September 19, and is scheduled to clear that port finally at daybreak on September 24 for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal. This will he the first visit of the lonic to New Plymouth. Captain W. S. Hodgson is in command, and he has associated with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr. H. D. Griffith; first, Mr. R. HIKURANGI SAILS TOMORROW.—Now at King's AVharf loading cargo under the agency of Spedding, Limited, the steamer Hikurangi is to sail at 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon for Norfolk Island.
THE WAI KOUAITI.—The steamer Waikouaiti, owned by the Union Steam Ship Company, leaves Lyttelton. tomorrow afternoon for Auckland, via AVellington. She proceeds from this port to Sydney.
THE MAUNGANUI. —The Union Steam Ship Company's steamer Maunganui. en route from Sydney, left Wellington late last evening for Auckland, and will arrive tomorrow evening. She is expected to leave here at 3 p.m. on Friday next for Sydney.
PORT FREMANTLE AT PANAMA.— Reported to have reached Panama last Saturday. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor-ship Port Fremantle is en route from Gisborne to London. She was dispatched from Gisborne on August 4.
CORINTHIC FOR LONDON.—A departure for London th s evening will he the AVhite Star liner Corinthic. which is scheduled to sail from Queen’s Wharf at 5 p.m. She is to take passengers, mails, and cargo to London and Southampton, via Panama Canal. • Her local agent is A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd.
THE PENYBRYN.—According to wireless advice received by Spedding. Ltd., the cargo steamer Penybryn, which is coming from Cuba with a consignment of raw sugar, will arrive here on Saturday afternoon. She is to berth at Chelsea Wharf.
THE ARLINGTON COURT.—Advice has been received that the steamer Court should arrive- from Ocean Island with phosphates via Suva, where she was forced to bunker, on Saturday morning. She will discharge to the agency of Henderson and Macfarlane, Ltd.
GOLDEN CROSS FROM LOS ANGELES.—The O. and O. steamer Golden ( ross is due to arrive tomorrow morning from Los Angeles, according to a radio message, and will berth at Central Wharf to discharge her cargo of lumber, case oil, and general merchandise to the agency of Henderson and ' Macfarlane. She will later proceed to Wellington. Lvttelton, Dunedin, and Levuka.
MIDDLESEX TO LOAD. The Federal Company advises that the Middlesex will commence her homeward loading at Port Chalmers about September 1. She will subsequently complete at Oamaru. Timaru. Lyttelton, Wanganui AA’ellington. Napier, Gisborne and Auckland. The vessel is due here on October 1 and is scheduled to sail finally from Auckland on October 4 for London. Avonmouth. Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal.
