WITH THE BOY SCOUTS
Daffodil Day At the Scouters* meeting last Wednesday evening arrangements were made for organising the Scout work on Daffodil Day (September 5). Miss Mowbray and a member of her executive attended the meeting. Several troops are taking stalls, and others willing to help are asked to notify Headquarters. All available boys are requested to give their services and assist in collecting flowers. • * * Rally Committee A meeting of the combined Scout and Guide rally committee was held last Thursday at the Girl Guide Headquarters, and a programme was arranged for the rally in honour of Dord and Dady Baden-Powell’s forthcoming visit. e • * Troops Visited District Commissioner Veart and Assistant District Commissioner Oxley paid an official visit to Glen Eden and New Lynn last Friday evening and inspected the boys of both troops. 4 4 * St. David’s Troop The annual meeting and tenth anniversary celebration of St. David’s Troop took place last Friday evening, when Commissioner Holdsworth presided over a large gathering. The retiring committee submitted their report and statement, which showed a satisfactory year, and a new committee was elected. Among the items were a display and a camp-fire entertainment by the Scouts and two sketches contributed by the Rovers. A patrol from St. Hellers Bay attended the function. Calliope Anniversary The Calliope Sea Scouts held a social evening last Friday evening in honour of the ninth anniversary of the formation of their company, and a bright evening’s entertainment was enjoyed by all those present.
