EYES ON THE CUP

PRODICE FOR AVONDALE? REAPPEARANCE EXPECTED Although nominations for the Avondale Jockey Club’s spring meeting are not due until next Friday afternoon, it is generally conceded that the principal race on the programme, the Avondale Cup, will signal Prodice’s reappearance after her lengthy spell. Last season there were few better stake-earners in the province, and she included in her wins such valuable races as the Takapuna Alison Cup, the Te Awamutu Cup and the Takapuna Cup. Such a sequence of attractive performances went to her credit that when it was decided to rest her at the beginning of the year she was already carrying big weights over middle distances.

Prodice has been in training at Te Awamutu for some time now, and although a race tends to bring a horse to its best undoubtedly she will be fairly well forward for the spring campaign.
