NGATEA SWIMMING
SCHOOL CERTIFICATES PRESENTED From Our Otvn Correspondent X GATE A, Today. More than 40 pupils of the Ngatea District High School qualified last summer lor New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association certificates. These certificates were presented at the school prior* to breaking uy for the holidays, there being a big attendance of parents to witness the presentations. The Ngatea Swimming Club provided facilities on the bank of the Piako River, where the youngest child could learn to swim in perfect safety, and most of those who had qualified for certificates had been instructed by members of the Ngatea Swimming Club. Its president, Air. J. E. Reid, made the presentations and in doing so announced that in the coming season instruction would be given in lifesaving. so that children could qualify for the higher certificate. Twenty-two children qualified over SBO yards, four over 220 yards, nine over 50 yards and six over 25 yards. Many were infants.
