POSITION EASIER NOW From Our Rrsidcnt Reporlrr WELLINGTON, Today. Mortgage money is becoming easier and the first shock which lenders re‘ ceived a few months ago has passed. The Wellington money market is now much healthier, and ample funds are available for genuine productive works, state financiers. For a time, there is no doubt, mortgagees were holding off and first mortgages especially suffered through this excess of caution. Now, however, they are prepared to do business on the usual margin and will consider farm lands favourably. The competition of local bodies, notably in the South, was felt, for Some time, but financial agents report that funds are‘ available in ‘larger supplies than ever and that ‘the country is showing a swift. recoviery from its financial position of iMarch last. There is no doubt that the higher bank rate has resulted in “putting the market in the bank," but there is a margin available t'or de~ VGIPPAEQt mums- ~
