CANDIDATE MR. A. E. JULL LIKELY lfi'om our It'csidcut Reporter WELLINGTON, Today. The United Party is likely to he represented by Mr. A. E. .lull in the coming by-election for the \Vaipawa seat, made vacant by the death of Sir George Hunter. Mr. Jull, who, it is understood, will receive ofl‘icial endorsement at the next meeting of the Dominion Executive of the party. is no newcomer to‘ the political field. He is Chairman of‘ the Counties’ Association, a. member‘ of the Highways Board and a past; president of the Power Board AssorciAil ation. He has been prominent in‘ local politics in Ilawke‘s Bay for manyl years, and for a long period has held the Chairmanship of the Napier HJl‘-‘ hour Board. Though he has C 01)" tested, the \Vaipawa seat against Sir George Hunter several times, he has never been dangerous to the late member who had it great personal vote and was immensely popular. CANDIDATE DEFEATED At the end of last year, when the United Party began organisation work in the llawkcs Bay area, Mr. .lull bas(tame Treasurer of the VVaipukurzln branch of the party and chairman of the division, which included all electorates from ’l‘auranga to the W'clliinr—ton city seats. As such, he was one x-t' the gentlemen invited by Sir Joseph \Vard to come to \Vellington last February to discuss matters of organisation and the future of the party.
