PLANS FOR BIG BLAZE
YOUNG MAN FACES CHARGE IN SYDNEY COURT WOMAN’S DISCOVERY Reed. 11.40 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. The sequel to alleged preparations to set fire to a building in Bathurst Street, which were frustrated by a woman, was the arrest of a young man who is charged with having maliciously attempted to set fire to the premises of McAlister Brothers. Bail for £2,000 was allowed. A woman in a ground floor shop discovered that elaborate plans had been made upstairs for a fire. The rooms were soaked in petrol and a string was attached to the street door, which when pulled would fuse the electric wires and ignite the fumes.
