SOCIAL EVENING
OLD PUPILS OF OPOTIKI DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL
The committee of the Opotiki District flip’ll School Old Pupils’ Association held its first social evening for members in the Farmers’ Social Room on J uesday evening.
Tho tables were daintily arranged with bowls of daffodils.
During the evening, Mr. E. Larmer, chairman, took the opportunity of discussing the aims and the work done by the association.
A competition, forming a telegram from the letters of the Old Pupils’ Association, caused much amusement, the prizes being won by Miss J. Kirkbride and Mr. W. Young. Mr. Jack Young contributed a song, “Passing He was accompanied by Miss Joyce Downie. Miss Elsie Armstrong recited a humorous recitation. “When lie Took Up Golf”; Mr. TV. Young, ac-
companied by Miss Joyce Downey, played a most enjoyable saxophone solo, “Lonesome Little Doll”: Misses Elsa Fleming and Jane Todd sang a duet, “Over the Dreamland Sea,” Miss Fleming accompanied. Several popular numbers were played by Miss J. Downey (piano) and Messrs. E. Larmer and W. Young (saxophones); a humorous sketch, “G for George.” was enacted by, Misses Joy Kelly, Elsie Armstrong and Jane Todd. After supperhad been served, dancing, bridge and community singing were enjoyed until a late hour.
