MOTOR-CYCLIST’S DEATH
THROWN TO ROAD WHEN PISTON SEIZED CORONER WARNS RIDERS Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. A warning that motor-cyclists should, when travelling at high speeds, take into account the possibility of the pistons of their machines seizing, was given by Mr. T. B. McNeil, S.M., at the inquest concerning the death of Terence Sefton Falloon, who fell off his motorcycle on August 19 and died in the Wellington Hospital.
The coroner said the evidence showed that at the time of the accident Falloon had attained a fairly high speed. The coroner was satisfied that
Falloon was not struck by any motorvehicle and that there was no obstruction on the road. Something had happened to the motor-cycle, probably the seizing of a piston, a happening which motor-cyclists travelling at high speed should take into account. The cycle had wobbled, skidded and Falloon had been thrown to the ground, receiving injuries from which he died.
