OLDEST AND YOUNGEST
PASSENGERS ON lONIC AGED WOMAN AND BABY GIRL There were two particularly interesting figures on the lonic when that vessel reached Auckland today from England. One was a tiny baby girl, 10 months old. The other was a charming old lady of 83. They were the youngest and oldest passengers on board. The baby was In charge of her nurse. Her parents are both dead and she has been brought to New Zealand to be handed over to her adopted parents, who live in the country. Josephine, the baby girl, sucked a tiny pink ribbon and smiled and gurgled at everyone. She seemed t«> be enjoying her arrival in Auckland, and no wonder, for she was the pet of the boat. Mrs. C. McWilliam, who at S 3 years of age, was not afraid to make the journey to New Zealand, has arrived to keep house for her son, who lives in the Auckland district. She is enthusiastic about her new life in New Zealand and gloried in the morning sun, which she thinks is a good omen for the future.
