TO RELIEVE DISTRESS
SOCIAL WORKERS UNITE Plans for uniting the various social organisations of the City were dis-. cussed at a special meeting of the executive of the Auckland Social Workers' Association last evening. The Rev. e. G. Moreton. chairman, tepoited that more than twenty societies had already affiliated with the association and a registrar had been appointed to keep a record of all help received from the different workers. The main aim was to link up all societies in one organisation in assisting genuine distress. The Hospital Board, although not affiliated. was willing to co-operate in the preventions of overlapping, an officer of the Relief Department generally attending executive meetings in an advisory role. A committee consisting of Hie Rev G-. K. Moreton (president), Rev C (; Scrimg e °ur (treasurer) and the Rev. T Halliday (secretary) was appointed to discuss means of co-ordination.
