N.Z. COAL PRICES

FORCING DOWN TO LEVEL IN AUSTRALIA THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Friday. Notice has been given by the Leader of the Labour Party, Mr. H. E. Holland, to ask the Minister of Railways, the I-lon. W. A. Veitch, whether his department is taking steps to force down the price of West Coast coal to the Australian level, created by the defeat of the miners in the recent lock-out, plus the freight and other State concessions to New South Wales coalowners. Any attempt to force down New Zealand prices to the Australian level, said Mr. Holland, must result in throwing hundreds of miners out of employment, and in any case could only follow substantial wage reductions.
