NEW SUPERINTENDENT
WANGANUI POLICEMAN FOR AUCKLAND MR. McILVENEY TRANSFERRED THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Saturday. The Minister in charge of the Police Department announced this morning that Inspector S. Till, of Wanganui, had been promoted to the rank of superintendent as from August 1, and that he had been appointed to succeed Mr. W. G. Wohlmann as Superintendent of Police at Auckland. Inspector J. Mcllveney, of Auckland, will replace Inspector Till at Wanganui. The Minister announced also that Inspector J. K. Simpson, of Palmerston North, had been promoted to superintendent, and would remain in Palmerston North. “Inspector Simpson,” said Mr. Cobbe, “is the senior inspector, with an excellent record, and he is well qualified for promotion, but in view of the fact that he is not in robust health and is due to Retire within the next two years, on reaching the age limit, it has been decided to promote him to the rank of superintendent and permit him to remain at Palmerston North, and to fill the vacancy for a superintendent at Auckland by the promotion of Inspector Till, who is the next senior inspector.”
