DRIVEN OFF COURSE

PERSONNEL OF CUTTER DAYS WITHOUT FOOD ( NINE MEN EXHAUSTED SUVA, Saturday. The Tongan cutter Fugafaimata, of 20 tons, laden with copra, left Nuiafoou for Vavau 12 days ago. The sea was calm for eight days, and these conditions, together with head winds, caused the vessel to drift to the island of Matuku, in the Fiji Group. The nine men aboard were without food and water for three days, and were in an exhausted condition when given assistance by the Matuku pilot. They reached Suva last evening suffering severely from the effects of hardship.
