APPEAL FOR FIRMNESS
INDIA “SICK TO DEATH” OF WEAK CONTROL COMMERCIAL REACTIONS United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright DELHI, Saturday. Two thousand European residents of Calcutta passed a resolution supporting the Simon Commission's proposals in regard to the future Government of India, “subject to modifications.” The resolution called on the Govern ment to deal firmly with the agitation of the Indian National Congress. Speakers declared Europeans were' sick to death of the weak Government and wanted it to know that Europeans were not going to have any nonsense with regard to the future Government of the country. There is growing uneasiness in commercial circles at the prolongation of picketing and boycott activities. Reports from Bombay, Cawnpore, Delhi, Amritsar and other important trading centres, indicate clearly that the situation has become worse. Commercial men express the gravest apprehension concerning the condition of trade a few months hence and demand that the Government shall end the impasse.
