THREE LEAGUE STARS
DID NOT PLAY ON SATURDAY DUFTY, BRISBANE, WETHEMLL Three of the best known New Zealand League players of recent years, C. Dufty, H. Brisbane and M. Wetherill, did not play on Saturday, although they were in the 15 players originally selected for the match. It was known when the team returned that Brisbane might not be f,: to take the field, as he had been injured in the last match of the tour. Interviewed by The Sun after the match, che team manager of tfce Kiwis, Mr. W. J. Tay!or, said tha: Dufty had notified him that he would not be fit to play on Saturday, as he was suffering from an injured Mr. Taylor said that Wetherill bad injured an ankle at practice, and that it had not been possible to get Brisbane fit for the match. Abbott. although still feeling the effects of an ankle injury, played the outstanding game of the afternoon, and scored four tries. Brady, the Auckland centre, who was carried off, is suffering from concussion. GOLF IN U.S.A. NEW YORK, Saturday. In a golf tournament for the Western open title at Orion, Michigan. Gene Sarazen won with a score of 26*. Hagen was fourth, with 2SS.
