SUSPICIOUS FIRE
WATERFRONT OUTBREAK A Are which broke out on Saturday evening in a small building near the Nelson Street Wharf was attended by suspicious circumstances. At about seven o’clock a police sergeant and two constables investigated a report that two men had been seen loitering in the vicinity of premises owned by Winstone, Ltd. They discovered a fire in a small building owned by the firm. It had gained little headway. When the City Brigade arrived, the firemen had no difficulty in extinguishing the fire. Slight damage was done to the floor of the office. The police, who could find no trace of the men they were looking for, were attracted to the office by a light in the window. This was the second suspicious blaze within 24 hours near the Nelson Street Wharf.
