ORCHESTRAL CONCERT

SUNDAY PROGRAMME AT CIVIC An attractive programme of orchestral numbers, solos, and a silent picture, “The Farmer's Wife/' attracted a large audience at the Civic Theatre last evening. The entertainment, at which a collection was taken. was organised by the Auckland Musicians’ Union on behalf of unemployed musicians. Under the direction of Mr. Howard Moody the orchestra played the hymn, “Abide With Me,” “Raymond” overture, “Stein Song” and a selection from H.M.S. Pinafore, all being warmly received. An organ solo. "In a Monastery Garden.” was nicely played byMr. Paulsen, and a saxophone solo was also given by. Mr. Healy. Tw’o vocal solos, “Arise O Sun.” by* Mr. Duncan Black, and "The Waltz Song.” from “Tom Jones.” by Miss L. Woods, were well received. Mr, Eric Bell was accompanist.
