ROXY
“THE HATE SHIP” Another fine British talkie at the Roxy. Every British talkie that has so far been shown in Auckland has proved that Elstree is at last aware of its opportunities, and can beat Hollywood at its own game, and its latest production. “The Hate Ship,” should do much to strengthen this opinion, for it is in every way an out-of-the-ordinary and remarkably entertaining picture. The central figure is one, Vernon Wolfe, a suave and dangerous villain, who takes a party for a so-called pleasure trip on board his luxurious yacht in order to obtain the fortune of a wealthy young guest. At sea romance develops and mystery deepens; there is an attempted murder and the methods used to accomplish it are ingenious in the extreme. “Harmony Heaven.” an all-colour production, with songs and dances, and introducing many leading London vaudevillians, is the second feature.
