WILHELM BACKHAUS
DETAILS OF PROGRAMME This morning, at Lewis Eady’s, Ltd., the box plans opened for the great farewell recital to be given on next Thursday, August 28, at the Town Hall, by Wilhelm Backhaus, the worldfamous pianist, whose concerts in the Dominion have been attracting record houses. The E. ,T, Gravestock management, under whose direction Mr. Backhaus is touring the Dominion, stresses the fact that the return season cannot be extended, for Mr. Backhaus has to sail for Australia on his return tour of the Commonwealth on August 29. Included in the programme chosen for next Thursday’s recital are‘three Beethoven works; Backhaus’s own arrangement of the "Romance from E Minor Concerto” (Chopin); Rachmaninoff's "Prelude in C Sharp Minor”; Schumann’s “Novelettes In F Major and E Major”; Chopin’s “Polonaise in A Flat Major”; four Chopin studies; Liszt’s “Twelfth Hungarian Rhapsody”; and Liszt’s “Waldesrauschen.” Mr. Backhaus will give a recital at the Theatre - Royal, Hamilton, tomorrow evening.
