WHITFORD CALF CLUB
AWARDS AT PARADE The half-yearly parade of the Whit- j ford Calf Club was conducted by the ; Auckland A. and P. Association at Whitford on Saturday after- ! noon. A large number of the ; parents from Whitford and the j neighbouring districts attended in perfect weather. Mr. R. Waterhouse, of Ardmore, was judge. The following awards were made: Best pedigree Jersey yearling: Ruth Eales, 1; Colin Booker, 2; Norman Meagher, 3; Noel Booker, 4. Bestmarked grade Jersey yearling: Ray Booker, 1: Gordon Manhire, 2; Christopher Steele, 3: Nola Millar, 4. Bestmarked grade Ayrshire yearling: Edith Millar, 1. Best handled exhibit (first prize trophy presented by Mr. A. J. Stratford, J.P., Auckland; second prize trophy presented by Mr. S. Hamlin, Panmure): Gordon Manhire, 1; Ruth Eales, 2; Ray Booker, 3; C. Steele. 4. Prizes for the best-kept set of records of the feeding of the respective calves: C. H. Booker, 1: N. B. Booker, 2; E. Millar, 3; N. Millar, 4; R. Booker, 5. At a function held later in the hall. Mr. J. Meagher, the chairman, referred to the progress being made by the Whitford Club, and to the wonderful interest and education provided not only for the children, but also for their parents. A vote of thanks, was passed to the women for providing the refreshments. The Auckland A. and P. Association was represented by Mr. S. Hamlin and Mr. J. Meyer, and the managing secretary, Mr. TV. F.* O’Donnell. Brief addresses were given by Messrs. Waterhouse, Meyer and Hamlin, and Mr. Booker, the secretary of the local organisation.
