Clara Placates An Angry Wife With £6,000
Being as fascinating as Clara Bow the red-haired tomboy of the screen, whom Mrs. Elinor Glyn christened the “It" girl, apparently has its disadvantages. Miss Bow journeyed recently to Dallas, Texas, in connecliou with a sunt for £30,000 damages brought against her by the wife of a prominent local business man. The film star
was accused of alienating the affections of a business man, whose name was kept a strict secret, reports a London correspondent. “I’ve come to sort of straighten things out,” declared Miss Bow, and it is understood that she has settled the affair out of court by paying £o,ouo to the injured wife. “X met the man in Hollywood, and I admit I fell for him pretty hard,” explained Miss Bow. “Then his wife came on the scene and threatened to start divorce proceedings. Eventually she began a suit against me, charging me with having alienated her hus band’s affections. It was the first date I ever made with a married man.. He had such nice eyes. But never again! I’m going to pay the money to get the affair off my mind.” Miss Bow protested that there was nothing harmful in her association with the man.
