MISS BETH' NUTHALL'S WIN OVER CALIFORNIAN quarter finals play Reed. 9.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Thurs. At Forest Hills Miss Betty Nuthall defeated Miss Dorothy Weisel, of California, 6—l, 6 —l. In the quarter-finals today Baroness Georgia Giacomo Levi, of Italy, formerly Miss Maude Rosenbaum, of Chicago, and the find of the women’s tennis season, defeated Miss Penelope Anderson, of Richmond, Virginia, 4 —6, 6—4, 7—5. She will meet tomorrow Mrs. Anna Harper, of San Francisco, who defeated Miss Mary Greet, of Kansas City, 3 —6, 6—l, 6 —4. Miss Nuthall will meet Miss Marjorie Morrill, of Dedham, who defeated Miss Ethel Burkhardt, of California, 4 —6, 6 —3, 6 —2. TENNIS AT NEWPORT MEN’S TOURNAMENT ALLISON BEATS SHIELDS Reed. 9.30 a.m. NEWPORT, Thurs. In the tennis tourney Allison defeated Shields in the quarter-finals, 68, 6—2, 6-—4, 6 —4. Lott defeated Wood, 6—4, 7 —5, 4 6, 4—6, 6—4. Tilden defeated Mangin, 6 —2, 6 —3, 7 5. Hunter defeated Vanryn, S —6, 4—6. 5 I—6, 6—4.
