COUNCIL DISMISSES APPEAL BY CITY CLUB FINE TROPHY HANDED OVER The appeal of the City Rovers’ Club against the decision of the Auckland Rugby League Management Committee’s decision to dismiss its protest against Devonport’s action in playing Simons last week came before the meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Rugby Football League last evening. The appeal was dismissed, on the ground that Simons was still a registered member of the Devonport Club and that there was no League body in Wellington affiliated to the council. A’ sub-committee consisting of the chairman, Mr. C. A. Snedden, W. O. Carlaw, E. Stallworthy, A. McClymont and A. Ferguson, was appointed to confer with the Special Committee of the Auckland Rugby League next week on the proposed alterations to the control and competition of the game in Auckland. The managers made an interim report of the Australian tour, which will be followed by a complete report in a fortnight’s time. The financial manager, Mr. A. Ferguson, handed over to the council the fine silver football presented to the team in Australia by Mr. R. O. Courtney, formerly of Christchurch, for the inter-island League competition in New Zealand.
