RIALTO, NEWMARKET

“HIT THE DECK” “Every girl loves a sailor,’’ so we are told. “Hit the Deck,” at the Rialto Theatre, strengthens this impression There are girls galore. Ballet girls on the quarter-deck of a flagship and dazzling young beauties joy-riding on the revolving muzzles of big, grim gtzns With the great scope available in a modern film presentation the story of Vincent Youmans’s stage success has been greatly enhanced. For colouring and massed effects the story lends itself admirably. With a navy for a background, the effects are both novel and spectacular. There are sailors by the thousand and pretty girls to go round; in fact, two or three apiece seems to be the order of the day.

Several bright talkie shorts are being shown on the same programme.
