HENDERSON OBJECTS

WHAU BRIDGE COSTS SHARE THOUGHT TOO LARGE From Our Oxen Correspondent HELENSVILLE, Today. The Henderson Town Board will continue its objection to paying the £135 assessed as its share of the estimated cost of building a new bridge over the Whau Creek at Avondale. All other parties except Mount Eden have agreed to pay the shares allotted. At a recent meeting, the chairman. Dr. Matheson, stated that the board was being asked for an amount of more than one-fifth of a penny on its total rating. It was a large sum, particularly in view of the fact that the board spent only £l7O on its main road each year. Apparently the Highways Board was not contributing, and if this was the case the board could not reasonably pay the amount asked for.
