TANEATUA DAIRYING Special to THE SUN WHAKATANE, Thursday. The annual meeting of shareholders of the Opouriao Dairy Company was held at Taneatua yesterday. There was a record attendance, and Mr. Walter Reid presided. The report stated that production of both butter and cheese showed an increase, and the output of butter exceeded 1,000 tons for the first time. The quality of cheese had been good. The Ruatoki factory won seven first prizes, including the championship of the Auckland Province. The factory statistics were:—Cheese department: Average test, 4.055 per cent.; cheese manufactured, 951 tons; pounds of cheese to one pound of butter-fat, 2.731 b.; pounds of milk to one pound of cheese, 9.751 b.; cost of manufacture (fuel and wages), .56d a lb. Butter department: Cream received, 279,5411 b.: butter-fat, 132,8711 b.; average test, 47.53 per cent.; over-run, 21.34 per cent. Messrs. C. Old and D. M. Thom were elected to the directorate.
