HIKURANGI BRANCH ] A meeting of the Hikurangi Women’s j Institute was held on Wednesday after- 1 noon in the Parish Hall, Mrs. Dale ’ presiding over a good attendance of members. Mrs. Miles Young, of Kiripaka, gavo j an interesting demonstration on seal- j ing wax work wich was greatly appreciated. Afternoon tea was provided by the 1 hostesses, Mesdames Cruickshank. ■ Dale, Dreaver, S. Pearson, Edwards and j Mansell. Community singing, with ; Mrs Sparks as accompanist, concluded an enjoyable afternoon. * * * < WAIMANA AXD NUKUHOU ; { The members of the Waimana and : Xukuhou Women’s Institute celebrated the institute’s first birthday recently The election of officers was held, and was as follow: —President. Mrs Wylde; vice-presidents, Mesdames Mottram. Woolfield and Savage; secretary, Mrs. Clarke; committee, Mesdames McConnell. Smalley, Grover, and ' Misses Wylde and Mitchell. Nine new members were elected. After cutting the birthday cake, the remainder was sold at 3d a piece, the proceeds going to the institute funds together with the proceeds from the sales table. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Wardlaw, McConnell and Ilewitt.
