Farquhar, of Wynyard Street, who has been visiting Wellington and Christchurch, returned home today. Mrs. T. H. Oakes and Lady Ann Walpole have left for a visit to Rotorua, after having spent a week at The Chateau, National Park. •* * Mr. and Mrs. W. Gibson, accompanied by their daughter. Merle, have returned to their home in Feilding, after an extended holiday in Hamilton, Rotorua, Tauranga and Auckland. AT THE CHATEAU Auckland visitors to The Chateau, National Park, during the past week included: —Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Eyre, Mr. R. N. Watson, Mr. Lamb and party (4), Mrs. Ryburn, Misses Ityburn, Mr R. Brookes Mr. and Mrs. Paddington, Mr. and Mrs. Sayer. WOMEN’S LUNCHEON CLUB Mrs. David Smith presided at the meeting of the Women’s Luncheon Club, held on Tuesday. Opportunity was taken to express appreciation of the work done by Miss Ida Walker in conducting community singing at the club meetings. On behalf of the members Mrs. Smith presented Miss Walker with a posy of violets and primroses. Book reviews were then given by three elub members. Mrs. Howie spoke on the plays of Sir James Barrie and in particular on “The Old Lady Shows Her Medals.” Miss Bcntliam briefly touched a few aspects of modern poetry and read Wolfe’s “Requiem.” Short extracts from “Diogenes” and the “Use of Leisure” were read by Mrs. OTlalloran.
