KARAPOTI’S CHANCE

IMPRESSED LAST SEASON TWO STARTS: ONE WIN A. Cook’s entry for the Sylvia Park Handicap at the Pakuranga I meeting on Saturday is Karapoti, a very speedy three-year-old, who impressed sufficiently last season to give him prospects in the classics. When a juvenile the son of Lucullus made his debut on the Te Rapa course at the autumn meeting of the Waikato Racing Club. He proved a handful on the first day, but made no mistakes on the second day, scoring very comfortably. These were his only outings. Subsequently, Karapoti developed a cold, but he has been in commission again since Easter and should be nicely forward for the spring racing. Karapoti’s race is a difficult one to analyse, last season’s winners in Volimond, Unoco, Cruachan, Sir Mond, The Sun, Principal, Royal Visitor, Biddy Comet, Lady Court, all claiming this engagement. j
