REV. FATHER FURLONG HONOURED LONG SERVICE IN PARISH \ The completion by the Rev. Father M» J. Furlong of 25 years of splendid service in the parish of Devonport was marked last evening by the holding of a conversazione, at which his parishioners took the opportunity of expressing their appreciation of his work and happy associations with them. "jVTR. J. P. WRIGHT was chairman and the visitors included the Right Rev. Dr. Liston, Very Rev. Dean Murphy, and the Rev. Father Kennedy. Presentations to Father Furlong included a handsome piece of furniture for All Souls’ Church. In making the gift Mr. Wright recalled that the

church, on© of the most handsome in the City, had been built as a result of the labours of Father Furlong, and the parishioners felt that he would appreciate a suitable gift for church use far more than anything for his personal use. Felicitations on a successful ministry were added by Bishop Liston.

Father Furlong said it had been a : ministry of love. Devonport parish was singularly united and progressive, said Father Furlong, and this had considerably lightened his task. A concert programme was supplied by Miss K. Franklin, Miss N. O’Connor, Mrs. H. T. O’Sullivan, Miss ,T. Laird, Mr. F*. P. Williams. Mr. W. L. Miller and Mr. P. T. McGuire. Miss L. Sinclair was accompanist.
