WORK OF ASSOCIATION SERIOUSLY AFFECTED SUSPENSION OF DEFENCE ACT Regret that the good work done by the Auckland Military Sports Association should be suddenly stopped owing to the suspension of the Defence Act was expressed at the annual meeting of the association last night, Mr. J. Carlaw presided. Eulogistic reference was made to the voluntary work of the staff of the Defence Department, Major W. C. Finnis, and especially that of the secretary. Lieutenant T. P. Laffey. The balance-sheet showed a satisfactory position, there being no liabilities. Assets amounted to £SGS 17s. The election of officers resulted as follows:— Patron. Mr. George Baildon: President, Brigadier H. R. Potter; secretary, Lieutenant T. P. Laffey; treasurer, Mr. R. P. Bennett; management committee, Messrs. J. Carlaw, H. Frost, J. Arneil. A. L. Bayliss, L. Patrick, A. H. Gillies, T. Sampson, Caplins W. H. Potter, C. P. Worley, Lieutenant A. Nichols and Staff- Sergeant D TV. Stewart.
