ABUSED A CONSTABLE

PRISON FOR LABOURER Because he behaved in a disorderly manner in Manukau Road yesterday and abused a constable, Michel Curran will be a guest of the State at Mount Eden Gaol for 14 days. Curran; an Irish labourer, aged 61. pleaded not guilty at the Police Court today to a charge of disorderly behaviour. According to Constable Henry, accused was hanging around Fairfax Road about 12.30 o’clock yesterday, and was seen going into and coming out of a gate and generally behaving in a suspicious manner. “When questioned by me, Curran said he was looking for work. I went away and when I came back accused used offensive language to me,” said the constable. “There was a number of people about.” Sub-Inspector Shanahan said that Curran was just out from gaol, where he had done three months.
