PORT SHIPPING
INCREASE FOR JULY DECREASE AT ONEHUNGA’ In July, 362 vessels entered the port of Auckland. Compared with July of last year this shows an increase of two vessels of 11,886 gross tons and i),073 tons. The coastal shipping. however, showed a decrease of 138 vessels of 7,717 gross tons and 4,481 net tons. The harbourmaster, Captain H. H. Sergeant, reported to the board yesterday afternoon as follows: The arrivals consisted of 2 Government vessels, 2 Royal Mail steamers. 16 British. 2 Banish, 1 American. 3 Swedish, and 1 Norwegian oversea, 13 intercolonial and 34 coastal vessels, together with 490 local coastal vessels, making a grand total of 362 vessels of 338,397 gross tons, and 201,670 net tons. The departures consisted of 2 Government vessels, 3 Royal Mail steamers, 22 British. 2 Banish, 1 American and 1 Norwegian oversea. 12 intercolonial and 37 coastal vessels, together with 492 local coastal vessels, making a grand total of 372 vessels of 375,798 gross tons and 221,082 net tons.
Captain K. H. Gibbons, harbourmaster at Onehunga, reported that in July there had been a decrease of one vessel of 4,481 gross tons and 1.799 net tons in the arrivals. Buring the month 27 vessels with an aggregate of 7,007 gross tons and 3,548' net tons arrived.
