WITNESS IN GAOL
HEARING ADJOURNED Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. There was an unexpected development in the Supreme Court this morning, when Edgar Arthur Barberel was placed in the dock to answer a charge of having attempted to utter a. forged post office withdrawal slip. “There is a witness of mine not here,” said accused. “I understood he was to come down to be a w-itness in my case, but he is not here.” The Crown Prosecutor explained that the witness referred to was prisoner’s brother, who was in gaol. Mr. Justice Adams granted an adjournment till tomorrow to allow the witness to be brought to court.
