Mr H. W. Shove, assistant lecturer •n Accountancy at the Auckland University College, has resigned his position from the end of this year. jlr. Xj- W. Wright, who has been doing survey and scientific work in the Solomon Islands, returned to Auckland by the Ulimaroa this morning. The Hon. G. J. Garland, M.L.C., and Mr W. J. Jordan. Mr. W. E. Parry, and .l r ’tv p. Endean, M.P’s., left for Wellington by train last evening. Mr J- H. C. Bond, superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, returned to Auckland this morning l>y the Ulimaroa after a business trip to Australia. Mr E. A. Sevier, general manager of the Vacuum Oil Company, who has been on a business trip to Sydney, returned to Auckland this morning by the Ulimaroa. Mr. Ulic Shannon, formerly a Wellington journalist, now of the Royal Air Force, stationed at Cairo, has completed j,is training on light airplanes, and is going on Vickers-Vimy twoengined machines for final training. Mr. Harry Thomas, of Sydney, who will judge the elocutionary section at tho •Wellington competitions, reached v nek I.m cl bv tho Ulimaroa this morning. He is at the Grand Hotel. Professor W. Anderson. M.A., of the uickland University College, lias been elected president of the Australasian Society of Psychology. Yesterday he was congratulated by the College Council. Mr J. R. Middleton, Dr. Thomas Mill, C.M.G.. C.8.E., and Dr. F. J. Borrie, Serving Brother of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, were elected members of the Dominion Boy Scout Council at a special meeting last week. Mr R. J* Lea "Wright, director of Coal Oil, New Zealand. Limited, arrived bv the Ulimaroa this morninp:. lie is at the Grand Hotel and will leave tomorrow to visit the company’s wells near New Plymouth. Mr. P. J- C. Horlick. son of one of the principals of Horlick’s Malted Milk Co.. Slough, England, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Ulimaroa. lie will make a tour of New Zealand in company with Mr. Guyton Butler, assistant director of the company. They aro both staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. F. H. Taylor, who was recently appointed New Zealand Government Dairy Produce Inspector in London, was met by officers of all divisions of the Department of Agriculture in Southland, before his departure from Invercargill, and presented with a solid leather travelling bag.
