UNHAPPY MARRIAGES
COURT SEVERS BONDS Because his wife had failed to comply with a decree for restitution of conjugal rights, Arthur R. G. O. Shepard (Mr. Singer) was granted a decree nisi against Evelyn Lucy Shepard, in a suit heard by Mr. Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court today. AGREED TO SEPARATE Mutual agreement to separate was the ground on which Ruth Florence Grainger (Mr. McLiver) was granted a decree nisi against Thomas H. F. Grainger. A counter petition by the husband and the answer to the wife’s petition were withdrawn by Mr. Sullivan, and Mr. Dickson, on behalf of the corespondent, who consented to this course. Evidence was given by the petitioner to the effect that the marriage took place on July 27, 1910, and there were seven children. As a result of unhappiness in September, 1926, she and her husband parted by agreement. His Honour: Why did you separate? —He would not give me any money. I have been earning my own living for the past six years. Is there any truth in the statement that you have been living with another man?—No truth, whatever. After petitioner’s son had given corroborative evidence, his Honour granted a decree nisi.
