RESCUES FROM DROWNING
HUMANE SOCIETY HONOURS Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The following awards were made today at a meeting of the court of directors of the Royal Humane SocietyLetter of Commendation and In Memoriam Certificate.—The relatives of Mr. Herbert Noel Dew, aged 21, who lost his life in attempting to rescue a youth, Leslie George Goldsack, in the municipal baths at Woodville on November 27, 1929. Letters of Commendation.—Mr. John Thomas Horne, aged 21 years, who recovered the body of Mr. Dew. Messrs. John Charles Orme, aged 60 years, and John Frankland, aged 41 years*, who rescued Miss Wrigley from drowning near Ferry Wharf, Day’s Bay, Wellington, on March. 6, 1930. Certificates.—Mr. Gregor Marshall, aged 21, who rescued George Gilham from drowning at Gisborne on July 3, 1930. Percival Raymond Foster, aged 19. who rescued James Whitelaw from drowning at Wellington on May 3. 1930.
