LONGBURN TRIO

THREE CANDIDATES FOR EPSOM GANG AWA WILL IMPROVE The Longburn trainer, W. Hughes, has in past seasons met with a good measure of success in Auckland, and judging by the entries received from the Mitchell stable for the relief fixture, William is keen on again trying his luck at Epsom. Three of Mr. J. A. Mitchell’s charges figure in the entrance list —Gang Awa, Bingen Crest and the trotter Caballero. Gang Awa is well known at Alexandra Park, where she has already had her number hoisted in a conspicuous position. The Peterwah mare won well on the occasion of her last visit here, and although she found the opposition too good at Addington, her turn will come round again. Bingen Crest is a bonny three-year-old by Worthy Bingen (brother to Great Bingen and Peter Bingen), from Edna, dam of Derby Lynn. Last season she started six times, the last three being winning performances. Caballero is a square-gaited son of R* l Guy from Lady Nan, a mare that w • above the ordinary at the trotting business. Caballero won at Hastings last March, but was beaten both days at Hawera at the Easter fixture. Ho should improve, however, with age. If the three mentioned sport silk at the approaching fixture the frenchgrey jacket should be seen to advantage.
