TE RAPA WORK
PAKURANGA CANDIDATES HORSES EXERCISED Special to THE SUN HAMILTON, Saturday. Local training headquarters are rather quiet at present, and little of a serious nature is being asked of horses on the tracks. A , Rnbv Dawn, one of I. Tutchen s charges, is to be given her first seri- ! ous outing over hurdles at the Marton , fixture early next month, and her dis- | plav this morning proyed that the Day Comet filly has promise in this class. ; She has been working along steadily | and is fairly well forward in racing condition. Star Comet has been moving along freely and showing no evidence of a return of liis recent trouble. He had Pompeius as a companion over a round this morning, and was leading his stable mate, at the six-furlong post, run in 1.24&. The Day Comet —The Whip gelding is looking remarkably well at present, and should be seen in his old form before the season is far advanced. Pakuranga Candidate Arch Eagle and Stonehenge went six furlongs in 1.22 3-5. Arch Eagle, who is entered for the Auckland Handicap at Pakuranga on Saturday,’ is nicely forward in his preparation. Other Pakuranga candidates that are working well on the tracks are The Sun and Daylight. The form* r is down to contest the Sylvia Park Handicap, and Daylight the Jellicoe Handicap.
Nothing of a serious nature has been asked of the Raceful gelding. Tradesman, whose tasks have been restricted to easy pace work. Valuation and Kalia. members of A. King Ford, who scored on the opening day of the Waikato Racing Club’s autumn fixture in the juvenile event on the card, is in good fettle and went a round in easy fashion at Te Rapa this morning.
