AN EASIER MARKET Prices of sheepskins and hides again showed a falling tendency at Friday’s sale, held by the combined Wellington brokers. There was a poor demand for sheepskins, prices being fully a halfpenny to three-farthings a lb. lower for dry skins, while salted skins were Is 6d to 2s a skin lower than at the last sale. A good offering of butchers’ hides was submitted, well-conditioned lots selling on a par with previous crates, while dark and discoloured lots were a farthing to a halfpenny lower. Cut, slippy and inferior parcels sold at correspondingly lower rates. Kip, yearling and calf sold well up to last year’s level of values. Tallow was very little in demand and showed no change. Tho range of prices is as follows: Dry Sheepskins.—Halfbred, 6d; line crossbred, 33d to 73d; medium crossbred, 4d to 6§d; coarse crossbred, 4d to 6£d; half wools, 3d to 63d; quarter wools, 2id to 53d; pelts, 2d to 4id. Salted Skins. —Quarter wools, 2s 6d; three-quarter wools, 3s Gd to 4s 3d; full wools, 4s to 4s 9d.
