A PRINTER’S ERROR

TECHNICAL COLLEGES NOT \ INCLUDED TWO-UNIVERSITY SCHEME THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Through a printer's error there is a mis-statement in one of the recommendations in the second portion of the report of the Select Parliamentary Committee on Education. In tha recommendation relating to the setting up of two separate universities in the North and South Island it is stated that the existing university colleges, agricultural colleges, research institutions, teachers' training colleges and the four city technical colleges should be consolidated within each Island to form two separate universities. The technical colleges are not included in this.

When the chairman of the Committee on Education, Mr. W. A. Bodkin (United —Central Otago) moved the presentation of the report in the House this afternoon there was a large chuckle when he produced the report, recommendations and evidence. This consisted of a tightly packed file about a foot high, which a messenger clasped in both hands and carried to the table of the House. The real printed report is a foolscap volume of 90 pages. "What a baby!” exclaimed a Reformer, in admiring tones, as a messenger deposited the report.
