BARRYMORE IN TALKIE
The thrilling and glamorous story of Prince Christian, soldier of fortune and passionate lover, which has been brought to the screen in “General Crack,” is John Barrymore’s first alltalking picture, and this famous actor invests his role with consummate art, vitality and strength. Barrymore is supported by an exceptionally fine cast, among whom are Marion Nixon, Dowell Sherman and Armida, the alluring gipsy girl, who gives a brilliant performance. There are several striking scenes in teehnicolour, and these give a pictorial mounting to this historical romance of the 18th century.
Phillips Holmes, a featured player of the screen, was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is the son of Taylor Holmes, noted stage actor, and was attending Princetown University when Paramount signed him to a contract.
