EPSOM DRIVER’S SUCCESS

Epsom trainer-driver, J. S. Shaw, has commenced the 1930-31 season in Fine style, as he steered five winners at the National carnival, being the most successful reinsman. By a stroke of luck (which was bad luck for F. G. Holmes), the Aucklander had the drive behind Muriel de Oro, who scored yesterday, while Warplane and Native Prince botf won twice in his hands. F. G Holmes had three successes to hi credit, and after his injury re ceived in the National Handicap he was unable to drive Muriel dr Oro, and this gave J. Shaw another opportunity to score. W. J. Tomkinson, who held the reins each time behind John Mauritius, also opened the season three up.
