National Handicap Contest FINAL DAY AT ADDINGTON Laplander at Great Price Special to THE SUN CHRISTCHURCH, Today. THE August carnival of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club reached finality today at Addington. The weather was fine, but dull and the attendance good. The •ii-jj-k was in splendid order. Admiral Bingen put up a capable performance in winning the Midwinter Handicap from the 72-yard mark in 3.22. Laplander and Tony Victor, both at big prices, finished in front of the favourite, Final McKinney, in the saddle heat, a fast-run race. The National Handicap provided a fine contest, O. E. Hooper scoring a good victory with King Co inter. from the consistent Imprint (who was at a big price), with the Aucklander, Native Prince, third. Muriel de Oro’s followers had a recovery when the mare brilliantly won the Federal Handicap.

Won by one and a-half lengths. Time, 3.21. Midland led out from Gemlight, •White Satin, Fifa, Tamahine and Homo Voyage. Opposite tho tanks Gemlight had tho running from Admiral Bingen, •who made up his handicap quickly. Midland, White Satin, Tamahine, Fifa and Home Voyage. Admiral Bingen, Midland, Gemlight and Fifa were the leading quartet passing the stand Again, and Admiral Bingen and Midland were still in the van as they came to the back. These two were followed into the straight by Cannonball, Nelson Boy and All Peters, with Home Voyage a long way back. Admiral Bingen won comfortably by a length and a-half from Midland, with Cannonball four lengths away third. Nelson Boy was fourth, with All Peters next, while Home Voyage was at the head of the rest. Times, 3.22, 3.28 2-5, 3.22. All started. Won by three-quarters of length. Time, 2.10 1-5. Bessie Logan and Tony Victor were noupled on the totalisator.

Tony Victor, Avonwood, Teremoa, Laplander, Erin's Fortune and Final klcKinney comprised the leading division over the first two furlongs, and as they came past the stand Tony Victor opened up a big gap to AvonWood. Harvest Child, Teremoa, Final McKinney, Kid Logan and Erin’s Fortune. Tony Victor and Avonwood were still in front opposite the tanks, Erin’s Fortune having come up to fourth place behind Harvest Child, with Final McKinney next. Avonwood showed the way as they turned for home, with Tony Victor, Erin’s Fortune, Final McKinney and Laplander in close order. The last-named came through to beat Tony Victor by three-quarters of a length. Final McKinney being two lengths farther back, and Erin’s Fortune, Avonwood and Harvest Child in close order. Dundas Boy lost ground at the start, and Logan Chief took up the running from Travis Axworthy, Linkman, King Pointer, Daphne de Oro, Imprint and Native Prince. The leader past the stand for the first time was Travis Axworthy, woh was followed by King Pointer, Logan Chief, Author Jinks, Terence Dillon, Linkman, Daphne de Oro, Dundas Boy, Native Prince and Imprint. As they entered the back. Linkman tangled and interfered with Dundas Boy and Terence Dillon, who was pulled up. Author Jinks had charge passing the stand the next circuit. his nearest attendants being Travis Axworthy, King Pointer and Native Prince, while Imprint was the last. The last-named went up very fast along the back the last time, and was lying behind Author Jinks, Travis Axworthy, King Pointer, Native Princb and Dundas Boy passing the top. Hero Travis Axworthy broke and upset Linkman. Author Jinks showed the way into the straight from Native Prince, King Pointer, Imprint and

Logan Chief, with Dundas Boy well back. King Pointer went on to win by half a length from Imprint, with Native Prince only a head away. Logan Chief. Author Jinks and Dundas Boy were the only others to complete the course. Times: 4.30, 4.5, 4.24, 4.28 1-5. FEDERAL HANDICAP Of £300: limit, 2.47; 11 miles. 3 MURIEL DE ORO. 24yds 1 I —BOGAN’S PRIDE, 12yds 2 4 EUGENE DE ORO, limit 3 Won by a length. Time, 2.45 2-5. Wrackeen and Bogan’s Pride led out from Eugene de Oro, Pageant and Torpedo Huon. Passing the stand Logan’s Pride had taken up the running from Pageant, Wrackeen. Torpedo ITuon, Bugeen de Oro, Trimmer and Omaha. The order was practically unchanged along the back and Logan's Pride led Wrackeen, Eugene de Oro, Trimmer and Pageant into the straight, where Muriel de Oro was making a fast run on the outside. Muriel de Oro drawout toward the close and beat Logan’s Pride by a length, with Eugene de Oro half a length further back, and Wrackeen fourth. Omaha and Pageant were the next to finish.
