A FINE FULL BACK. Although he slumped a bit in the final Test, Bassett's consistent record on tour stamped him as one of the finest fullbacks who have visited New Zealand. He perhaps lacked Gerhard Morkel's tremendous length in his line-kicking, but he was very solid and safe.
