Vital League Match

PONSONBY VERSUS MARIST

May Decide Championship

WHEN Ponsonby and Marist meet in the chief attraction at Rugby League headquarters tomorrow, the restingplace of championship honours for tlie season may be settled. At the present time Ponsonby is leading the field with 18 points, City is second with Hi and Marist third with 14.

Thus, if Ponsonby defeats Marist tomorrow, it will have a good leg in for the championship, even if City defeats Devonport. If, however, Marist can turn the tables on Ponsonby—it had a big win in the first round —Cily will bo placed well in tlie running again.

However, Ponsonby expects to be at full strength again tomorrow, Thompson having been included in the preliminary selection. Marist will need to do better than it did against City in its last match to come out ahead of Ponsonby, if the Pony team plays with the dash and combination it did against City. Devonport and City seniors will provide the curtain-raiser on Xo. 1 ground, and on paper there is little between the two teams. Ellerslie plays Kingsland on No. 2 ground at 3.1 a p.m., and Newton and Richmond will fight out the issue at the Domain. Junior grade matches will also be continued tomorrow.
